Bad day at the office

City of bristol ladies played there first games after the christmas break with mixed fortunes. Their first game against Norwich who were joint top with us at the start of the day proved to be our worst match of the season so far, to give norwich credit they did serve us of the court and played the type of game that we had hoped to play, but whatever the Bristol team tried nothing was going to change the result. Norwich took the match 25-22, 25-8, 25-21,
Our second match was against local rivials Wiltshire Mavericks who had taken Norwich to a 5 set game early in the day,(things did not look good).
Dispite losing the first set 25-16 things were improving, as this proved the case in the 2nd set with Bristol taking the set 25-23. A very close 3rd set saw Mavericks take it 26-24.
The 4th set started well with Bristol taking command of the set and racing to a 15-9 lead, this they held onto to take the set 25-16. the 5th set saw Bristol take a 8-3 lead into the change of ends with some "interesting" serving from Elena Hensinger. This lead proved too much for Mavericks with bristol taking the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.
Defeat by Norwich could cost Bristol a chance of winning the league but they are still in with good chance of making the play-offs
our next matches are away in cardiff where we play Oxford and Cardiff Tigers
