Speedwell Stay Up
| April 16th, 2003 |
After our First season in the First division in almost ten years, we are a bit bruised.
It was a tough battle but Speedwell managed to survive and remain in the EVA’s top division. Although Speedwell has a long and successful history at the top of the English league, for most of the players, this was their first time playing at this level.
It has been a huge adjustment - going from the Fourth division to the First after three successive promotions in three years. If anything, it shows that Speedwell’s younger players are finally coming into their own.
It is hoped that the experience gained in the last season will help to improve on the performance of the next. Extra training sessions at the University of Bristol and some renewed enthusiasm in the club should also help to give the team some momentum for the next season.
