Speedwell gained only their second win of the season in a five-set thriller against Newcastle Staffs at Kingswood Leisure Centre.
The Bristol side cruised into a 2-0 lead, but nerves set in and the visitors struck back to level at 2-2.
In the end it was the dynamic defence ofSteve Williams and Andy Smith, plus the solid hitting of Ian Fairclough, that gave Speedwell victory by 25-19, 25-20, 15-25, 12-25, 16-14.
